Department of Physics, St. Xavier's College Thumba, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Science and Religion (IISR), Delhi and Loyola Institute of Peace and International Relations(LIPI), organized a two-day National Seminar on the topic 'Science Technology and Future of the world' on 5th and 6th of September 2018. Dr. S Somanath, Director of VSSC inaugurated the seminar. Prof. Job Kozhanthadam(Director IISR Delhi) delivered the keynote address. Dr. K Babu Joseph(Former Vice-Chancellor, CUSAT), Dr. VPN Nampoori (Emiritus Professor, International School of Photonics, CUSAT), Prof. K Sundara Raman(Former Director, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Kodaikanal), Dr. Augustine Pamplani (Director, Indian Institute of Science and Religion, Aluva), Dr. Binoy Pichalakkattu (Director, LIPI Kochi), Dr. G M Nair (Advisor, Kerala Biotechnology Commission), Dr. Joe Jacob (Dept. of Physics, Newman College Thodupuzha), Dr. K K Jose (Former Principal, St. Thomas College Pala), Dr. Kuruvila Pandikkattu (Professor, Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth, Pune)and Dr. Beena Jose (Principal, Vimala College Thrissur) delivered lectures on relevant topics.

Adv. (Fr.) Pious Vachaparambil, manager oft he college was the patron of the seminar. Principal of the college Dr.(Fr.)V Y Dasappan SJ, was the chairman and convener was Dr. Tessy Chacko, HOD of Physics. Dr.(Fr.)Shibu Joseph SJ, Asst.Prof, Dept. of Physics was the coordinator of the seminar. Participants from different colleges and research centres presented reserach papers and prizes were distributed for the best and second best presentations.
