Thumba, October 3, 2024: In honor of Gandhi Jayanti and to promote environmental responsibility, students from St. Xavier's College, Thumba, organized a large-scale beach clean-up at Arattuvazhi Beach, in collaboration with the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment (KSCSTE). Over 250 students from various college clubs participated, cleaning the beach from Thumba Church to St. Andrews Beach.
The event kicked off with a student rally led by Dr. (Fr.) Biju Joy SJ, Bursar of the college, raising awareness about environmental conservation. Dr. (Fr.) Sunny Jose SJ, College Manager, inaugurated the clean-up drive, with Principal Dr. Nisha Rani delivering the presidential address.
Local dignitaries, including Dr. Lenin Lal, University of Kerala Syndicate Member, and Mrs. Dorin Jacob, Ward Member of Kadinamkulam Panchayath, also attended to encourage the students. The effort was a great success, as students worked tirelessly to restore the beach’s natural beauty, demonstrating the power of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.
